Report: iPhone 15 With Rounded Edges & New Housing Material

Since the iPhone 12, Apple has followed a design language with origins in the iPhone 4: The smartphones have all resembled a small bar with clear edges. The appearance of recently released editions of the device has witnessed a great amount of popularity and despite this, it's still possible that Cupertino may return to release the next generation with more classically rounded edges. That's not the only change, however, as Cupertino should also rely on a completely new material which has never before seen usage in an iPhone. These rumors are, of course, to be taken with a grain of salt – but they do come from quite a distinguished source: The leaker ShrimpApplePro holds a truly successful portfolio of prognoses.

iPhone 15 Out Of Titanium With Rounded Edges?
There's no shortage of rumors about the iPhone 15 right now. For example, many market experts are already expecting to see Lightning connection ports replaced by USB-C, as well as even the absence of any mechanical keys whatsoever. "Solid state" touch sensors could see usage as a replacement, such as those that already execute functions in the iPhone 7, 8, and SE. Purchasers of the top model of the upcoming series should also profit from a periscope camera. Now, leaker ShrimpApplePro is grabbing attention by revealing new information about the iPhone 15: The edges, leading from the frame to the back, should soon be rounded. The design would thus correspond to that of the bottom edges of the MacBook Pro 14" and 16". As if that alone weren't enough, however, the leaker has also revealed that Apple may use titanium for the next iPhone's housing. Thus far, that material has mostly been reserved for select models of the Apple Watch, including the Apple Watch Ultra.



Less Sensitive Finish For Titanium Housing?
In another Tweet, the leaker added some relevant information: The back of the device will still be in glass. That's not a surprise, given that in any other case – the iPhone would barely be able to absorb any inductive energy. ShrimpApplePro also points out that this is still a very early stage for predictions and changes before release are still entirely possible. However, his statements aren't absurd: Apple has already filed a corresponding patent for a titanium finish, which is more durable thanks to a new anodizing process.
