The AirPods Pro 2 In Action – What Is The New Generation Capable Of?

At the beginning of the month, Apple presented an abundance of new hardware products. In addition to the four models of the iPhone 14, the Apple Watch also saw several releases including the SE, Series 8, and Ultra versions. However, those weren't the only products for Apple fans to get excited about – the company also showed off the second generation of the AirPods Pro. Come Friday, tomorrow (09.23.2022), the final two subjects of September's event will see an official release – with the start of deliveries for the Apple Watch Ultra and the AirPods Pro 2 finally beginning. Several select outlets already received test copies of the product, as is usually the case. Now that the review embargo on the AirPods is finally over, there are quite a few reports concerning the newest edition of the compact earbuds.

AirPods Pro 2 – Noise Cancelling
In its own of description of the device, Apple placed special emphasis on the product's nosie cancelling features. As per , this emphasis is not misplaced. Although it's a bit difficult to measure Apple's claim that the noise cancelling function is now "twice as effective", the improvement is indeed quite noticeable. Although the first generation of the AirPods Pro was able to very significantly dampen commotion from the direct environment, the soon to be current generation is able to completely cancel such noice out. CNET and PCMag are in agreement with The Verge's assessment, but also praise the devices sound quality during transparency mode, which refrains from cancelling the noise from specific sources.

AirPods Pro 2 – Comfort & Batter
There's no difference between the first and second generation in comfort whilst wearing – however, there is some difference in service. Cupertino finally implemented Apple Touch control into the earbuds' stems, so that even the volume is directly controllable without activation of the coupled device. Engadget set Apple's claims concerning battery life under the microscope. During daily usage, 6 hours and 15 minutes of music playback were possible – which directly corresponds with Apple's own indications and is a considerable improvement over the previous series. When noise cancelling was active during the tests, the Airpods Pro 2 lasted for only 4 hours and 30 minutes.

AirPods Pro 2 – Sound & Ear Shape
The sound quality received a great deal of praise – with multiple testers noting that Apple had managed to improve the listening experience by yet again improving the sound's clarity and dynamic range. Both bass ranges and high tones profit from the device's improved H2 chip, which is responsible for playback. Additionally, for those with abnormally shaped ears that are unable to contain the AirPods, the new XS size earbuds are very popular.
